In Search of soul
Our greatest happiness lies in practicing a talent we were meant to use (Goethe).
I believe that through study and hard work we can do and become anything - but this work will not give us a deep sense of aliveness, happiness and purpose unless it aligns with our gifts and talents for our soul purpose, in this lifetime. These gifts and talents serve not only ourselves, but others and the world.
We need to take radical responsibility for the manifestation of our purpose in this lifetime. Don't waste your time! We don't have the luxury of being naive, neglectful, asleep or a victim. We are not responsible for the unfortunate circumstances and bad things that happen to us, but we are responsible for how we choose to respond to what happens to us.
We are in the wasteland when we are doing what others expect us to do. As the term wasteland suggests, this is not a nourishing place for the self and soul. When we fall asleep to our life, we lose sovereignty (ownership) of our lives - we become a means to someone else's end.
When we are doing the work we are meant to do, we are not doing it for money, to pay for or buy "things". We do it because we love it, we are good at it and we get a deep sense of purpose and meaning in doing it. Yes, we need to figure out how to make the money work to sustain us, but money does not give us our sense of "aliveness".
There is nothing, nothing more soul destroying than being in the wasteland - being a means to someone else's end. When we are awake to our life and living our soul purpose we have a deep sense of aliveness in every moment - without needing the presence of others, food, drugs, alcohol or possessions to entertain and distract us.
There are many claims on how to find your love-work. I battled - it took me more than two decades. Sometimes I comfort myself by saying I'm a "late bloomer" and that may be true. What I am going to share with you - how we will work together -worked for me, opened me up. I believe it has value for everyone - but it needs to resonate with you. You must get a sense and feeling of "I need to do this".
We will start an inner journey together! On this journey we will meet and come to know your "dragons and giants". We may, on this (specific) journey, through grace, find your "hidden treasure" - your love-work and soul purpose. But it may not be this journey, with me. Regardless, we will make a start and you will end up more open and on a different journey to the one you're on now.
We will work with image in various ways (for example like we do in Sorting the Seeds) to "open us up" - or what I call "unbundle" ourselves. We work with image because I believe our psyche is organised around archetypal image. Through image, we find what resonates with us - what makes us feel alive. We will explore mythological archetypes to recognise and activate our inner gods and goddesses.
By far the most time-consuming and challenging part of this work is the "unbundling" of ourselves. This depends on you and your past experience. Unbundling requires patience, love, courage and persistence. Our inner world is like a metaphorical Jericho, with huge protective, defensive walls. We have to first do the work of "bringing the walls down".
Once we have "loosened up" we will work with your "triggers" to understand the wounded aspects of yourself and explore the limiting false beliefs that are perpetuating behaviour and choices that keeps you locked, not only in self-defeating patterns of behaviour but also behaviour that could be blocking the manifestation of your soul purpose.
The light shines through the wound (Rumi). We get close to our treasure (gifts, resources, talents and purpose) when we face our dragons and giants (our wounds, false beliefs, the hidden, buried, rejected aspects of ourselves).
