SKY WATCHING & MEANING MAKING (SWaMM)
To re-connect with ourselves, community and earth, we just need to look up!

What happens in the skies above us (the planetary and luminary cycles and alignments in relation to earth) symbolically mirrors what happens on earth personally, socially and collectively/politically.
Astrology is based on a radical belief - "as above, so below", which essentially is a belief that what is happening "in the skies" (planetary alignments and cycles around earth) symbolically mirrors what is happening in our psyches, relationships and communities/world i.e. if we want to know what is happening in our psyches etc, we just need to look up! It's a fascinating belief - but how does the symbolism work and does it have any correlation and value in our lives? This is what we'll explore in the SWaMM videos.

Just as there are many different psychology traditions and schools of thought, so too are there different astrology philosophies and traditions. In astrology, certain traditions even have a different 'language' and zodiac (blueprint (map) of space-time from earth). What is consistent though across all astrology traditions are the planetary alignments and planetary cycles from an earth perspective (i.e. independent of Zodiac SIGN and HOUSE). When we only focus on planetary alignments and cycles from the perspective of earth, we essentially unite all astrology traditions! The goal of SWaMM.

Every week I will show you the skies using two perspectives: The one (on the left above) is a real-time view of the skies using the mobile app Sky View and the other (on the right above) is a map of the skies using the mobile app Astro Gold. On the left you see Mars in the skies below the horizon (read line) and Uranus above the horizon and on the right you see Mars (red) below the horizon (9 o'clock line) and Uranus (blue) above - the map (astrology) mirrors the skies (astronomy)!

We will then fuse the astronomy (planetary alignments) with the symbolism (astrology) and discuss the way the symbolism is mirrored in our lives/world. We get to know the skies, ourselves and each other and build community.
